When you have noticed the signs of a sewer drain problem and have called the plumber, you may wonder what is going to happen next. The first step of the process is to perform a sewer line inspection. Your plumber will use a long drain snake with a camera attached to it to go through your sewer drain into that main line leading from your home. The snaking process will allow them to see what the trouble is with your sewer drain. If the problem is a clog of some sort, they will try to break that clog free of the walls of your sewer line using the snake or other tools. If they cannot dislodge the clog, or if it is caused by tree roots or another obstruction, they may have to go through the ground and cut into the sewer line to remove the clog. The tree roots may need to be removed or the sewer drain rerouted to accommodate the tree's root system. Now that you know more about your sewer drain system, call a plumber at the first sign of any trouble to prevent catastrophic overflow.
